CLARE BROWNLOW, BEHIND THE FEATHERS
Clare has been drawing and painting since she was old enough to hold a pencil and brush. She was an Art Scholar at Uppingham and went on to study art at Edinburgh College of Art and Leith School of Art where she specialised in atmospheric oil paintings.
After the birth of her first son in 2009, in a quiet moment at her parent’s kitchen table in Norfolk, Pheasant Feather Art was born. She picked up a pheasant feather from her father’s stash, dipped it in his fountain pen inks and started “doodling”.
Some of Clare’s more recent collaborations have included creating colourful, bespoke magnums for Pol Roger Champagne. A painting day at Purdey & Sons in London which included the challenge of painting on beautiful pieces of walnut that are used to create the stocks on Purdey guns. Producing a vibrant and colourful rainbow trout to be used on the product packaging for Chalkstream Foods and then there was the creation of the stunning silk scarf for Really Wild that used Clare’s iconic fighting cock pheasants. Clare has also worked with Edinburgh Zoological Society and Bowland Brewery.

We are so lucky to have the River Till running through our garden. The colours of trout are subtle yet vibrant.
These linen on board framed pictures are framed by being sandwiched between two bits of glass then framed with a gilded frame. That means there is no mount, or a see through one. Which means that they hang in any and every room and the colour of the wall or wallpaper acts as the mount so they can go in any room.

We are surrounded by hares at home and the way in which they move is mesmerising. I have two of the same size and make a stunning pair, above a fireplace or either side. They are currently being hung at The Collingwood Arms.
